Beier Howlett • Environmental Law

Beier Howlett's environmental law group represents and counsels clients in varied and complex environmental legal matters. Members of the group litigate environmental issues in federal and state courts and administrative agencies, advise clients regarding compliance, counsel clients in regulatory and permit matters and assist clients regarding corporate and real estate transactions.

The environmental law group incorporates the expertise of members of Beier Howlett's other practice groups in representing clients. Similarly, members of the environmental law practice group assist all other Beier Howlett practice groups in environmental aspects in municipal, business, probate and estate planning and real property issues.

Members of the environmental law practice group have appeared at all levels of federal courts and Michigan courts, including the United States Supreme Court and the Michigan Supreme Court. In particular, members of the environmental law group have tried cases in Michigan circuit courts, federal district courts and the Court of Federal Claims in matters including the federal Superfund statute and its Michigan counterpart, leaking underground storage tanks, riparian rights and takings claims.

Areas in which members of the environmental law group assist clients include baseline environmental assessments, Superfund litigation, Part 201 litigation, brownfields, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act litigation, sand and gravel permits and compliance, wetlands, air pollution compliance and litigation, water pollution compliance and litigation, riparian rights, citizen suits, solid waste landfill issues and emerging issues of clean energy.
